Pendant qu’Hillary Clinton faisait un discours de politique étrangère où elle exaltait “sa compétence” contre le “caractère instable” de Trump, un avis de poids, du côté militaire, est venu la contredire directement. Le général Flynn, ancien directeur de la DIA qu’on connaît bien, a estimé qu’il serait bien plus à l’aise avec Trump comme “commandant-en-chef” (titre officiellement porté par le président des États-Unis), qu’Hillary à ce poste. Il est assez remarquable que Flynn ait dénoncé Hillary d’abord pour son caractère (menteuse publique et sciemment irresponsable vis-à-vis du maniement des informations classifiées) alors qu’Hillary faisait le procès du caractère de Trump.Il est également remarquable d’entendre avec quelle fermeté de jugement est-il affirmé, par un officier général de ce rang et de cette expérience, combien toutes les grandes initiatives de politique extérieure de Clinton et opar conséquent de l’administration Obama (Libye, Daesh, Iran, Yemen, relations avec la Russie, avec la Chine, etc.), sont des échecs.

Cette prise de position de Flynn, – qu’on a déjà évoqué comme penchant du côté de Trump, – est importante au niveau des réseaux et experts encore sérieux et responsables des milieux de sécurité nationale à Washington, à cause de son comportement d’une rare honnêteté et d'indépendance d’esprit. Flynn confirme la crainte qu’on expose généralement d’avoir avec Hillary Clinton à la Maison-Blanche une personne extrêmement dangereuse : Clinton a posé la question de savoir s’il était sage de donner les codes des forces d’attaque nucléaire US à un homme tel que Trump, ce qui invite instantanément à lui retourner la question, – la concernant, elle. I mean, a secretary of state who lies to the American public, a secretary of state who uses an unsecure email server to send and receive highly classified national security information, knowing that she is not doing the right thing," Flynn said. "When you look at some of the actions that she was directly involved in — the rise of the Islamic State, the failure of Libya, the failure of the Russian reset, the failure of the pivot to the Pacific with, you know, with China — nobody talks that about it anymore it was such a failure,” continued Flynn. “I could go on and on — the Iranian nuclear deal which she was directly involved in, Yemen. I mean, there are so many things that she touched are just utter failures.”

» The former top defense official admitted while he does not agree with all of Trump's foreign policy and military views, the two do share common ground on the issues, including boosting the economy. “The greatest threat to our country right now is our economy. Number one, there is no doubt about it in my mind,” Flynn said. "Hillary Clinton in that speech — she didn't talk much about the economy. She really didn't. She talked about sort of these lofty things and really didn't dive into the things that I believe the American public cares about which is the economy of our country.” »
