CNN persiste et signe

A côté de ce qui a pu sembler être l’attitude générale habituelle des médias US telle qu’on a pu la mesurer aussitôt après l’incident entre Ron Paul et Giuliani (attitude de censure systématique, référence au conformisme, banalité et médiocrité du commentaire, diffamation du candidat non conforme Ron Paul et ainsi de suite), la chaîne de TV d’information CNN suit (confirme) une politique très particulière. CNN semble vouloir prendre au sérieux et donner une place exempte de la censure habituelle à un candidat que l’establishment républicain rejette et repousse avec horreur. (Bien que Ron Paul soit républicain, certes.)

Après une première intervention remarquée en faveur de Ron Paul, CNN lui fait une place importante dans l’émission Late Edition de Wolf Blitzer, avec une interview de John King. C’est RAW Story qui rapporte la chose, le 21 mai, en donnant la transcription intégrale de l’interview.

»Paul also blasted criticism that he isn't ''Republican enough.”

»“I support the Republican platform better than any other candidate, I am convinced of,'' Paul insisted. “Take out the platform. They're for less government. They're for personal liberty. We ran on our program in 2000 for a humble foreign policy.”

»Paul asked incredulously, “How can anybody say I'm not Republican? I'm the most conservative member of the Congress. I vote for the least amount of spending and the least amount of taxes, and they say I'm not Republican enough?”

»“I mean, why don't you challenge that side rather than challenging me and feed into the frenzy that say get rid of the reporter, get rid of the person delivering the information rather than dealing with the information,” Paul added. “Non-intervention is a real political victory. We cannot win as Republicans next year if we just continue to dig our heels in, send more men and women over there to die on a policy that has failed.”

»Paul said that “Republicans are scared to death to face up to the truth. And my job is to make them face up to it and show them that the majority of Americans are with me, not with the current foreign policy that we're following.”

»“Low in the polls but certainly shaking and stirring things up in the Republican race,” CNN's King remarked at the end of the interview.»

Comment apprécier l’attitude de CNN? Il faut en appeler à la réalité de la situation comme une référence évidente, cela suffit comme explication. Le désordre est complet à Washington et Ron Paul exprime sans aucun doute, — pour un instant ou pour plus longtemps, on verra, — un sentiment général de lassitude, de contestation et de dégoût. Les circonstances ont fait que la chaîne d’information s’est intéressée à cette réalité très puissante avant que ses freins et ses mécanismes de censure habituels aient fonctionné à plein. Du coup, elle continue, prudemment, sur la voie tracée, — mais sans être inquiétée, ce qui est le point important. Il faut donc remarquer que le désordre est plus grand que la vigilance et le rappel à l’ordre du système de censure démocratique US, habituellement très efficace.
