La Chambre des Représentants va voter pour imposer l’autorisation du Congrès à la guerre contre l’Iran

La Chambre des Représentants va voter sur une résolution introduite par le républicain anti-guerre Walter Jones et cinq autres parlementaires. Si cette législation est votée, ce sera un pas décisif du Congrès pour reprendre le contrôle de la politique étrangère, comme il l’avait fait en 1972 (analogie du Vietnam) avec le vote sur les “pouvoirs de guerre”, conditionnant à son autorisation toute action de guerre en Asie du Sud-Est.

Dans tous les cas, il s’agit d’un signe de plus de la radicalisation du Congrès contre l’action de l’administration GW Bush.

Quelques précisions selon AFP :

«Supporters said the legislation would prevent the United States from becoming embroiled in another intractable war like the one raging in Iraq.

»“Congress will not stand by idly -- it won't be railroaded into another war that will only make America and the world less safe,” Democratic Representative Martin Meehan said at a press conference Thursday.

»He said recent administration statements and military maneuvers point to an imminent attack on Iran.

»“The indications of the initial saber-rattling are everywhere,” Meehan said.

»“I'm not here to tell you that I trust Iran, but I am here to say that I don't trust the administration,” Meehan said.»
