Pour l’ancien officier de la CIA Michael Sheuer, les USA et l’OTAN vont perdre en Afghanistan

Tout le monde n’est donc pas de l’avis du scintillant général Karl Eikenberry. Le général nous annonce in fine une victoire finale en Afghanistan, tandis que Michael Sheuer, ancien officier de la CIA, nous annonce le contraire.

Sheuer n’étant plus à la CIA, on dira officiellement qu’il parle sans savoir et poussé par la rancœur. Nous dirions qu’il parle libéré des contraintes du système. Sheuer est déjà connu pour des critiques sérieuses des méthodes de la CIA et il a publié, en anonyme au moment de la publication, un livre important sur la critique de la politique impérialiste US (Imperial Hubris: Why the West is Losing the War on Terror, 2004, par Anonymous.) Sheuer a été en service dans la zone du Moyen-Orient et du sous-contineznt indien et a participé à différentes opérations contre Ben Laden pendant dix ans.

Dans le Los Angeles Times, il écrivit le 5 décembre 2005 : «I do not profess a broad expertise in international affairs, but between January 1996 and June 1999 I was in charge of running operations against Al Qaeda from Washington. When it comes to this small slice of the large U.S. national security pie, I speak with firsthand experience (and for several score of CIA officers) when I state categorically that during this time senior White House officials repeatedly refused to act on sound intelligence that provided multiple chances to eliminate Osama bin Laden — either by capture or by U.S. military attack. I witnessed and documented, along with dozens of other CIA officers, instances where life-risking intelligence-gathering work of the agency's men and women in the field was wasted.»

Aujourd’hui, Sheuer nous parle donc de l’Afghanistan, selon des déclarations rapportées par le site indien ZeeNews.com :

«A former senior CIA operative who tracked Osama bin Laden for 10 long years foresees “an apparent American defeat in Afghanistan.”

»Michael Sheuer said the way ahead in Afghanistan and along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border “ultimately would lead to the defeat of US and NATO forces and the demise of the Karzai government.”

»Scheuer told the Daily Times in Washington that by failing to accomplish the only mission that had to be accomplished in Afghanistan, the US was now faced with a growing insurgency that probably already outnumbered the combined US-NATO forces.»
